Clemente Flores-Hernandez was sentenced to 60 years in prison Tuesday for second-degree murder in the shooting death of Karol Bedoya and first-degree assault for strangling her adult son in February 2023.
The Denver DA said Flores-Hernandez fled with Bedoya's 2-year-old grandson and led police on a 30-mile chase on I-70 east of Denver. The boy was unharmed.
Bedoya and Flores-Hernandez were involved in an intimate relationship for about 10 years, the DA said.
The shooting and assault occurred at Bedoya's home in northeast Denver.
"Karol Bedoya’s murder is yet another terrible reminder of the tragic toll domestic violence takes on our community and our families,” DA John Walsh said.
