After spending six years in hiding including refuge in Mexico, Jesus Jurado-Lugo has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for second-degree murder, the Denver DA said. Jurado-Lugo, 26, will also serve 12 years for first-degree assault, with the sentences running concurrently. Jurado-Lugo was convicted of fatally shooting Lydia Coronado in Southwest Denver and wounding Gilberto Cedillo on July 16, 2017, the DA said. He was arrested in Mexico in August 2023 and extradited to Denver four month later. Denver police detectives worked with federal authorities to track him down. "No matter how long it takes, violent criminals in Denver will be arrested and prosecuted," DA John Walsh said after the killer pleaded guilty in January.
