RTD's efforts to expand its transit police force and step up patrols of buses, light rail and commuter trains are paying off.
Security-related calls dropped 52% from a year earlier to 2,134 during February.
"Similar month-over-month decreases have been observed going back to July 2024, shortly after RTD implemented 24/7 patrols and gained momentum in recruiting additional police officers," the transit authority.
RTD's acting police chief, Steve Martingano, said: "“We’re enforcing the Customer Code of Conduct, conducting fare sweeps, and maintaining a regular presence."
