HUMBOLDT STREET GUNMAN IDENTIFIED

A gun-wielding man shot to death by Denver police has been identified by the city medical examiner as Jose Medina, 57.

Officers opened fire after the man refused to drop his gun, police said. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Humboldt Street and East 35th Avenue on March 20. 

None of the officers were wounded. At that time, police said the gunman was a transient.

The medical examiner confirmed Medina, who was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, died of multiple gunshot wounds.
